The William W. Backus Hospital is a 213-bed acute-care hospital in Norwich and part of Hartford HealthCare, serving eastern Connecticut. It operates a Level III Trauma Center and is the only regional facility with a helipad supporting Hartford Hospital's LIFE STAR air ambulance. The hospital provides inpatient care across a full range of surgical service lines.
