MACMACEmory University Hospital — flagship of Emory Healthcare and one of the most historically important sites in the CAA profession. Emory University's anesthesiology department was a co-founder of the Anesthesiologist Assistant profession in the 1960s (Drs. Gravenstein, Steinhaus, and Volpitto). Emory hosts a CAAHEP-accredited Anesthesiologist Assistant program in Atlanta. CAAs and CRNAs are integrated members of the Anesthesia Care Team across the Emory Healthcare system. Georgia has licensed CAAs since 1971.
