SUNY Upstate Medical University is Central New York's academic medical center and the region's largest employer. Its Department of Anesthesiology employs CRNAs who assess patients to formulate anesthetic plans, place invasive and noninvasive monitors, and respond to emergency airway situations, and are encouraged to work to full scope of practice including regional anesthesia.
