MACMACUNM Hospital is New Mexico's only Level I Trauma Center and the state's academic public teaching hospital, affiliated with the UNM School of Medicine. Its Department of Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine runs an anesthesia care-team model staffed by roughly 50 faculty anesthesiologists and 41 CRNAs and CAAs, plus residents and fellows, covering 28 operating rooms and 7 non-OR anesthesia locations and performing more than 24,000 cases a year. The case mix spans general surgery, orthopedics, GYN, oncology, urology, and vascular. It employs Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants alongside CRNAs.
