Vanderbilt University Medical Center — flagship of the VUMC health system and Tennessee's premier academic medical center. Tennessee became the 23rd jurisdiction to authorize CAA practice when Gov. Bill Lee signed the licensure bill in May 2025, allowing CAAs to practice in physician-led anesthesia care teams. VUMC's anesthesiology department is actively expanding its CAA workforce. Lipscomb University in Nashville is launching the state's first CAA master's program.
